No. 7 Parnell Square became a well known landmark in 1888, as Conarchy's Hotel. In 1907 it was renamed by a member of the Conarchy family, who was at the time marrying into the St George family. The hotel continued to trade during the 20th Century, but tragically fell into ruin in 1979. From this point onwards, it remained roofless for almost a decade. The present owners of the Hotel St George pursued painstaking, but in the end, award-winning restoration of the property. Their efforts have returned to Dublin a fine Georgian house open to the public. The hotel has been purposefully refurbished in its original plasterwork, with crystal chandeliers, unique antique mirrors and beautiful marble fireplaces.
